Holidays are here and this can be a very challenging time for those who suffer from Eating Disorders. Whether your part of a celebration or not, Muslims who live in Western Countries also struggle with this time of the year, for many people and their families, this is a time to catch up with old families and friends over lunch and dinner and this presents many challenges as the focus is somewhat on food and eating.
According to Zoe Landers, MSW, LCSW, a New York City therapist specializing in eating disorders and trauma, “The holiday season is frequently one of the most stressful times of year for people who are working towards recovering from their eating disorder.”
This is an excellent webinar for those who work with people with Eating Disorders by Dr Nicole Siegried, Ph.D, CEDS, a licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist.
This webinar is intended for therapists, social workers, and psychologists who work with clients with eating disorders. The holiday season can be extremely difficult to navigate for clients with eating disorders. Increased pressures from work, school and family, as well as holiday parties can trigger the use of eating disorder symptoms. Dr. Nicole Siegfried will discuss strategies to support clients as well as families during the holiday season. She will explore ways to assess clients for higher levels of care, ways to provide anticipatory guidance to clients and families, as well as coping strategies which may be implemented.
1. Assess clients with eating disorders for higher levels of care
2. Summarize difficulties clients and families may encounter during the holiday season.
3. Implement at least 3 interventions directed at assisting clients and families in navigating the holiday season.
